  A racing problem?

Can I run without a connection?
You can run without an internet connection but you need it after your run so that we can collect your kilometers and transform them into a donation for the association you have chosen.

Why is GPS required to run?
The GPS is necessary to calculate the number of kilometers you will travel and thus be able to transform your kilometers into donations!

So I can’t run on a mat with the app?
No, that’s not possible. But running outside is so good, why deprive yourself of it? 🙂

Is Km for Change limited to running?
The application takes into account all the kilometers traveled between 0 km / h and 20 km / h. It is limited to running or brisk walking and is therefore not available for other sports, such as free fall jumping for example 😉

My race stopped, why?
This point generally concerns Android phones, in particular Samsung and Huawei (but potentially other phones) which have too strong a battery saving policy.

To limit the problems generated, you must perform the following manipulation: Settings> Applications and notifications> Applications> Km for Change> Battery> Launch> « Disable automatic management and Activate execution in the background »

Why is the app reporting an incorrect distance to me?
To avoid fraud, the application checks the GPS data and in particular against the use of the metro or cars …

Thus the application may not take into account your races if:

• the management of applications in the background is too strict on the phone (see Configuring your phone )
• there is a long passage in a tunnel, a forest
• you stopped to walk for a long time in the middle of your run
• you walked for several moments at low speed (stroll, mountain, trail or other)

Can I bike, ski or run a treadmill with Km for Change?
Sorry, the application is only intended for outdoor running. Treadmills, biking or other sports are therefore not possible with the app.

I encountered a problem using the application. How can you help me?
We are sorry that you have not been able to take full advantage of the application, but we are trying to improve it every day. And you can help us with that!

  How to configure your phone?

The management of applications in the background is very strict on Huawei and Honor phones, which prevents correct mileage accounting.

Huawei and Honor

Android version 8 or higher:

• Settings> Battery> Launch. Locate the Km for Change application in the list and select it. Make sure that the three options (Secondary launch, etc.) are activated and press OK. The text Manually check should appear next to Km for Change.
• Settings> Apps and notifications> Settings (advanced)> Special access to applications> Battery optimization. Tap Allowed at the top and select All apps, locate Km for Change in the list and select Allow.

Android 6:

• Go to Settings> Advanced settings> Battery manager> Protected apps. Locate Km for Change and select Protected.

Oneplus

Android 9/10:

• Go to Settings> Battery> Battery optimization> Km for Change > Don’t optimize.

Xiaomi

Android 9:

• First make sure that the Km for Change app is closed and not open, even in the background.
• Go to Settings> Battery> Battery saver> Choose apps. Locate Km for Change in the list and select No restrictions.

Android 8:

• First make sure that the Km for Change app is closed and not open in the background.
• Go to Settings > Battery & performance> Manage apps battery usage> Choose apps. Tap Installed apps at the top, locate Km for Change in the list, and select No restrictions.

Other phones

Android 8/9:

• Go to Settings> Battery. Disable all battery savers and, if there are application-specific restrictions, select the Km for Change application and disable the associated power saving features. On Android 9, we recommend disabling the Adaptive Battery feature as well.
• Go to Settings> Battery>… (three dots) > Battery optimization. Select All applications at the top, locate Km for Change in the list and deactivate the optimizations associated with the application.
• Go to Settings> Apps & notifications> All apps / App info> Km for Change> Battery. Disable all background restrictions and optimizations.

Android 5/6/7:

• Go to Settings> Battery. Disable all battery savers and, if there are application-specific restrictions, select the Km for Change application and disable the associated power saving features.
• Go to Settings> Applications – Km for Change> Battery optimization. Select All applications at the top, locate Km for Change in the list and deactivate the optimizations associated with the application.

  Watch / app synchronization

Does the app work with connected watches?
The Km for Change application is not currently suitable for connected watches unfortunately…

Can I synchronize my Km for Change data with other running applications such as Strava or other?
Synchronization is not possible at the moment but we are thinking about it. 😉 You can still find your races in your personal history.

On which phones is the application available?
The application is available on Android phones (from version 4.0.3) and on iOS (from iOS8). We have no plans to deploy to Windows Phone.

  How does Km for Change work?

How is the project of an association funded?
Each project is funded with the support of a united company (patron) who shares the values ​​of the project. It is this patronage that will reward each of your solidarity strides by donating each kilometer transformed in the form of a donation to the association you have chosen.

How is Km for Change funded?
The Km for Change team is entirely volunteer . We are highly motivated and all share united values. Km for Change therefore takes no commission on donations made to associations. This incredible adventure was made possible thanks to a crowdfunding campaign on the Ulule website and the extraordinary support of 544 contributors! We also finance ourselves through the sale of derivative products (t-shirts, etc.) as well as with the support of companies.

Is the app available in other languages ​​or other countries?
The application is currently only available in France and in French / English (and internationally for private corporate challenges). This is under consideration for Belgium and Switzerland… But why not one day all around the World? 

I would like to buy a t-shirt to run in your colors, how to do it?
Our t-shirts are priced at €15 + shipping costs. We do not yet offer online sales and our stocks are limited. To get a t-shirt (s), here is the online t-shirt order form. We will send your order by post upon receipt of payment.
